The Jacksonville Armada FC (0W-2D-1L, 3 pts, 8th NASL Fall Season) looks to continue improving its offensive effort as it returns home to face the difficult Puerto Rico FC (1W-2D-0L, 5 pts, 3rd NASL Fall Season) Wednesday at Hodges Stadium.

Saturday’s match on the road had a thrilling start for the Armada FC against North Carolina FC. Newly acquired forward Tony Taylor scored his first goal of his career with the club in just the 3rd minute. In the 18th minute, Jack Blake scored on a penalty kick after a foul on Tony Taylor in the box to give the Armada FC an important 2-0 lead. Just before halftime, North Carolina midfielder Andre Fortune brought his club within one goal after a turnover in the Jacksonville box.

In the second half, the Armada FC tried desperately to cling to the lead, but a rallying North Carolina FC club would not be denied. In the 68th minute, Fortune put a strike off the crossbar, but teammate Lance Laing was there to put the rebound home. Both clubs would battle hard until the final whistle, but the match ended in a draw.

Puerto Rico FC hosted one of the top clubs this Fall Season on Saturday night as the San Francisco Deltas made a visit to the island. This match featured both clubs’ strong defensive ability as few shots on target were registered. In the 26th minute, a dangerous free kick from the Deltas was saved at the last moment by Trevor Spangenberg. Again, in the 55th minute, another threatening free kick sailed just high of the net for the Deltas. The match would remain scoreless and both teams walked away with a point.

The Armada FC has had difficulty against Puerto Rico FC this year, with a record of two draws and one loss against the Caribbean foe. Jacksonville looks for a boost from its faithful at Hodges Stadium on Wednesday to get three points and climb the Fall table. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. and can be viewed in Jacksonville on WJXT and ESPN3 or listened to on Planet FM 97.3 and Rumba FM 106.9. Fans in Orlando can also catch the game on MeTV.
