After another hard-fought match, the Armada FC fell short of its first win of the season. Despite the 2-1 loss to Puerto Rico FC, newly acquired forward Tony Taylor shined once again in just his third match with the club.

Down a goal in the second half, the Armada FC was awarded a free kick. After a brief discussion with teammate Méchack Jerôme, Taylor decided to step up for his club. The 28-year-old delivered a powerful strike that sent the ball past the outstretched arms of Puerto Rico keeper Trevor Spangenberg.

“I saw the keeper cheating a little bit to the left, so I tried to fake him and put it in the right corner,” said Taylor.

Taylor’s accurate shot briefly tied the match for the Armada FC, and the momentum seemed to shift in its favor.

His strong performance early this season has been a bright spot for a club still searching for its rhythm. With scoring depth having been an issue in the past for the Armada FC, having Taylor up front has been a big boost for the squad.

In the 75th minute, Giuseppe Gentile put the Caribbean club up a goal, which would turn out to be the match-winning goal Wednesday night.

Despite the negative outcome, coach Mark Lowry was optimistic about how the result would impact his club.

“You just come out a better team, a stronger team, and you learn from it.” When asked what his club needed to do differently on Sunday, Lowry said the club just needed to “keep doing what we’re doing, keep playing positive. Things will turn.”

The Armada FC will have short rest before it hosts the Miami FC on Sunday night at Hodges Stadium at 6 p.m. Get your tickets now HERE to watch Taylor and the rest of the team take on the Spring Season Champions!
