Even on Friday the 13th, the Jacksonville Armada FC felt no fear against their northern foe – North Carolina FC. The fast-paced match provided plenty of excitement for one of the largest crowds recorded at the Armada FC’s home field of Hodges Stadium.

The crowd was drawn in early, as Zach Steinberger was able to capitalize on a cross by J.C. Banks, which he tapped into the back of the net. Steinberger’s goal earned the team a point in the 1-1 draw and he was also voted the Armada FC’s Man of the Match for his effort..

“The atmosphere has only gotten better since the summer and it’s been a lot of fun to play in front of,” said Zach Steinberger. “So, I’m glad [the fans] could come out and see an exciting match.”

With the Armada FC in playoff contention, Steinberger’s goal certainly brings some positive energy to the team’s stretch of matches moving forward. It has been almost six months since Steinberger led the team in goals and claimed responsibility for one of the best goals in the NASL in May.

The much-needed point will assist the team moving forward with two more home matches next week.

“Full credit to the guys. I thought the play tonight was superb. We’re still in [the race to the Championship]. We’re still within a shout. A point [is] a point,” said Coach Mark Lowry. “Come Wednesday, Edmonton will come and we’ll beat them and we’re right in the thick of it. So it’s all good.”

There was plenty of excitement to go around, and the team will look to build off of that momentum moving into the coming week.

The Armada FC will have their midweek match on Wednesday against FC Edmonton and will have the last home match of the season on Sunday, Oct. 20 against the New York Cosmos.
