The Jacksonville Armada FC is facing off against USL side Indy Eleven Saturday in a preseason matchup in Indianapolis. A competitive contest is anticipated as the last time these former NASL opponents met on Sept. 27, the match ended with a 0-0 draw.

Indy Eleven is coming into Saturday’s match with momentum after a 2-0 victory over MLS side Chicago Fire on Sunday. Indy put up two goals early in the first half of the match. Soony Saad followed up on a deflection from Chicago’s goalkeeper in the 11th minute for the first goal. Just seven minutes later Eugene Starikov had the opportunity to score another goal after a short pass from Jack McInerney, who drew two Chicago defenders before the dish.

Armada FC is charging on full steam as well after 3-0 shut out against the University of North Florida. The first goals of Wednesday’s match were put away after two trialists were subbed in for Armada FC in the second half. Brian Bement set up Comillo Portilla in front of the net, and Portilla secured the first goal. Nine minutes later Portilla scored his second goal with an assist from Ciarán Kilduff. J.C. Banks converted a free kick late in the game to seal the 3-0 victory.

Indy Eleven is on a four-match win streak this preseason and the Armada FC bested its last two opponents. Expect a physical match-up for every bit of 90 minutes this Saturday when the teams meet at the University of Indianapolis.
