Jacksonville Armada FC hosted Boca Raton FC Sunday at Hodges Stadium and put on a show for fans, scoring a club record seven goals and shutting out the visitors. The match extended the Armada FC's undefeated record at home this NPSL season.

The Armada FC got on the board in the 4th minute when midfielder J.C. Banks found himself with the ball at the top the box after a shot from Joshua Castellanos was blocked and rolled out to him. Banks put his left foot on the ball and tucked it in the left corner of the net for the first score of the night.

Jacksonville continued to pour shots on goal but did not score again until the 31st minute when Conor Doyle found an open Christian Silva at the top of the box. Silva fired the ball into the back of the net to double Jacksonville’s lead.

It took one minute for the Armada FC to build onto the two-goal lead when Castellanos put Jacksonville up 3-0 on an easy tap in front of the net from Doyle. The goal was Castellanos’ third professional goal, and second of the NPSL season.

The Armada FC walked off the field at halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Jacksonville picked things up quickly in the second half, scoring the fourth goal of the match in the 52nd minute. Doyle crossed a ball into the box and onto the head of Ciarán Kilduff, who put the ball toward Banks. Banks then easily headed in his brace of the night to make the score 4-0.

In the 60th minute, Doyle assisted his third goal of the game when he found Castellanos cutting through the box. Castellanos easily put the ball in for the second brace of the match to make the score 5-0.

Doyle was rewarded for all of his assists in the 63rd minute when he scored a goal of his own. Wesley Charpie sent the ball to Doyle at the top of the box, who then fired a shot into the top of the net to make the score 6-0.

The scoring ended in the 82nd minute when Camilo Portilla earned a penalty kick inside the box. Kilduff stepped up to take the kick and easily scored to make the game 7-0.

‘”This is what we’ve been expecting for a while,” Armada FC head coach Mark Lowry said.” To take the shots and score the goals like we did is something special. It’s something we’ve been threatening to do.”

Armada FC President Nathan Walter agreed with Lowry, saying it was only a matter of time before a game like this happened for the club.

“We’ve been waiting for this result,” Walter said. “We’ve knocked on the door plenty of times, but it’s great to get a game like this. To keep a clean sheet and not concede says a lot about our mentality. It’s easy to shut down when you’re up that big, and we didn’t do that.”

The Armada FC’s next game will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Hodges Stadium against Miami United FC.
