LOOKING BACK
The Armada FC won the first matchup with Storm FC on June 2 in Jacksonville. The best chance of the night for Storm came in the 37th minute when Storm FC’s Paul Andre Day made a shot, only to be blocked by Brian Holt, who then deflected a volley from Johan Godoy. This would be one of only three shots made on goal by Storm FC.
The teams left the field at halftime both scoreless. Within one minute of the start of the second half, Derek Gebhard would land the only goal of the game. With a pass from Ciarán Kilduff, Gebhard took his shot against the open net. The game finished 1-0.
The Jacksonville Armada FC are looking to bounce back from their second loss of the season. The Armada FC fell short 1-0 Saturday on the road at Naples United FC. This was the first matchup with Naples United FC in the NPSL season. As the game progressed, both teams earned a fair share of chances. However, play was disrupted by a lightning delay in the 65th minute. The teams resumed play after 30 minutes, and Naples United FC came out with increasing momentum as they found the back of the net in the 75th minute.
A LOOK AT THE OPPONENT
The Storm FC have yet to find their first win of the NPSL season. With only two regular season matches left to play, they have suffered ten losses putting them at the bottom of the table.
The Storm FC most recently fell to Boca Raton FC on the road Saturday. Storm looked as if it was going to gain its second draw of the season and pick up a point, but Boca Raton managed a 90th minute goal to deliver Storm its ninth loss. Fernando Franco was also sent off with a red card in the 94th minute, so he will not be available for Wednesday's match.
ALL SIGHTS SET ON PLAYOFF
With the regular season winding down, the Jacksonville Armada look to secure a spot in the playoffs. The Armada FC is currently sitting in 2nd place in the NPSL Sunshine Conference and has a chance to take one of three seeds before the end of the season. Jacksonville’s last game of the season will be at home at Hodges Stadium July 7 against Naples United FC.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Jacksonville Armada FC will return to Hodges Stadium Saturday for the last match of the NPSL regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. against Naples United FC. Tickets start at just $10 at JacksonvilleArmada.com/Tickets.
