Pat Cannon Named U-23 Head Coach Ahead 2020 NPSL Season

Dec 17, 2019

The Jacksonville Armada FC announced Tuesday that Pat Cannon accepted the role of head coach of the U-23 team. The 2020 option was not picked up for former head coach, Aaron Pitchkolan.

“I want to thank Aaron Pitchkolan for his work over the past few years. With that said, I’m very happy to announce Pat Cannon as the U-23 head coach,” said Armada FC President and General Manager Nathan Walter. “Pat has a lot of history with the U-23 team and developed many players that have gone on to represent the first team. As we take these next steps, it was important we put someone of Pat’s caliber at the wheel to install the philosophy that is guiding our U.S. Soccer Development Academy players’ futures through our player development model.”

A Jacksonville, Florida native, Cannon has been coaching for the Jacksonville Armada FC Youth Academy for fifteen years, currently serving as the Technical Director of the Boy’s U.S. Soccer Development Academy program. He also was an assistant coach for the Armada FC professional team in 2016 as well as an assistant coach for both Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida's men's soccer team, respectively, from 2011 to 2015.

Cannon currently holds his USSF Development Academy Director License, USSF A License, and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.

Additional U-23 coaching staff announcements include Tommy Krizanovic as the assistant coach, Patrick Sorge as the assistant coach and team admin, and Alex Bolowich as the goalkeeper coach.

The coaching announcements come after the Jacksonville Armada U-23 joined the new National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Gulf Coast Conference in the South Region. The conference includes the New Orleans Jesters, AFC Mobile, Pensacola FC, Port City FC, and Tallahassee SC.

Open Tryouts for the U-23 team are scheduled for Feb. 1-2, 2020 at Patton Park. All players ages 17-25 are welcome to register at JacksonvilleArmada.com/U23-Tryouts.

The 2020 schedule and roster will be announced in the coming months.
