Jacksonville Armada FC Expands Grassroots Youth Soccer Efforts

As the Jacksonville Armada FC’s intellectual property partnership with Jacksonville FC concludes mutually on June 1, 2020, the Armada FC makes strides to continue to grow youth soccer in Northeast Florida through offering all-inclusive soccer opportunities.

The Armada FC was approved by St. Johns County School District to lead future after-school programming and will be offering the same services in Duval County Public Schools. The club is in the development stages to deliver programming to students for six weeks of foundational soccer instruction in the fall of 2020 and spring of 2021, pending any changes to the school year due to COVID-19.

Additionally, the Jacksonville Armada is planning to facilitate neighborhood clinics in the areas of Eastside, Westside, and Northside Jacksonville. The fall and spring clinics will be in the Eastside in close proximity to the land where the club aims to build a soccer-specific stadium.

All Armada FC clinics and after-school programs will provide foundational soccer skills in a fun and pressure-free environment. The players will learn through many different techniques of coaching, specifically discovery and camouflage learning.

“The Jacksonville Armada is proud to support to youth soccer across northeast Florida and ensure every child will receive an opportunity to play the game. We are first excited to be a resource for our neighborhood communities and school districts with our new clinics and after-school  programs. These programs will not only introduce many young players to soccer that may not have the opportunity otherwise, but it will also offer students an exciting after-school activity,” said Armada FC President and General Manager Nathan Walter.

The Armada FC will also make donations to two youth soccer programs in Duval and St. Johns County, each receiving $10,000. Each organization will choose how the money will be distributed to their scholarship programs.

“We are also eager to continue our support of youth soccer through our initial scholarship donations. We support the commitment to excellence by local youth soccer programs and their quest in developing nationally-recognized talent in northeast Florida,” said Walter.

On Jan. 28, Jacksonville City Council members unanimously approved an agreement between the City of Jacksonville and RP Sports Investment Inc. to develop land near downtown Jacksonville. The club continues to work with the city and other entities to build a soccer-specific stadium in Jacksonville.
