Jun 17, 2022

The Jacksonville Armada FC U-23 hosted Tallahassee SC for their third home match of the season. This marked the seventh game in the Gulf Coast Conference for the Armada, and the fourth meeting all time between the two teams.

From the first whistle both teams came out of the gate with aggression and ready to get physical.

It did not take long for the Armada to secure their first goal because in the 5th minute Angus Taylor would accurately slot the ball past the goalkeeper beginning with a cross from the wing provided by Giancarlo Vaccaro to give Jacksonville a 1-0 lead.

In the 22nd minute Tallahassee were awarded a corner kick, and the chace was put away to bring the scoreline to 1-1.

Jacksonville would not let the goal discourage them because in the 35th minute Jed Bowman bombed down the wing and placed a cross on Reed Davis' head, who would score his second goal of the season.

Just five minutes later after their second goal, the Armada were awarded a free kick just outside of the box. Centerback Ethan Dudley would step up to the ball and hit a low driven shot under the jumping wall. The freekick would his first goal of the season, putting the boys in blue ahead 3-1.

The flurry of opportunities would not end for the Jacksonville Armada. One minute after the freekick was scored, Giancarlo Vaccaro found himself alone in the box after a Reed Davis pass, and would convert the chance to make the scoreline 4-1.

In the dying embers of the first half, Reed Davis slotted home a second goal into the back of the net after a deflection from the Battle Lion's goalkeeper.

Heading back into the locker room, the Jacksonville Armada FC U-23's found themselves up four goals to bottom of the table Tallahassee SC.

The second half picked up where the first half left off, with the Armada controlling the game and retaining most of the game's possession.

Both teams made multiple second half substitutions to get fresh legs onto the pitch to keep up with the quick pace of the game.

In the 79th minute of play, Tallahassee defender San-Rabens Pierre picked up his second yellow card of the match resulting in an eventual red card. Tallahassee SC would play the rest of the match a man down.

In the 83rd minute debutante, Noah Escobar, would make a streaking run into the opposition's penalty box and give Alex Ierides an easy chance to tuck the ball away to put Jacksonville ahead 6-1.

In injury time, Alex Ierides' pace was too much for the Tallahasse defenders who would drag him down in the box, forcing the referee to call for a penalty kick. Captain Elijah Howe stepped up to the spot, but would lay off the penalty kick to an incoming Alex Ierides who would convert the chance for his sixth goal of the season.

The center referee called the game just after the eighth goal of the match with the final score being 7-1 in favor of the Jacksonville Armada.

Head Coach Tommy Krizanovic had nothing but high praise for the players and the fans who came out on a Wednesday night saying, "Solid overall performance tonight. Preparing for an organized Tallahassee side, we came out with clear defensive objectives and those were met tonight. Having been off for 10 days you can see that the team was eager to play again and do so our way. A massive thank you to all of those that were able to come out and made the environment even more enjoyable."

The Armada U-23's next home match of the season will take place Saturday, June 18 at Jangro Stadium when they face off against Panama City's Florida Roots FC. Tickets are FREE and available for reservation on Eventbrite.
