JACKSONVILLE ARMADA FC U-23 ANNOUNCE 2023 GOALKEEPERS AND DEFENDERS

Roster highlights returning players and new faces.

Ahead of the Jacksonville Armada FC U-23 season opener on April 29th, the team announces its goalkeepers and defenders to the roster with the midfielders and forwards to come tomorrow. "We are excited to bring back so many of our players within these units but also really excited about the new ones coming in. Our players are able to build off the playing style established and are a critical to our teams success." said Jacksonville Armada FC U-23 Head Coach Tommy Krizanovic.

 

GOALKEEPERS

 

Dominic Dominguez - Dominic Dominguez is a 20 year old goalkeeper for the American University. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Dominic attended Atlantic Coast High School. He played for Jacksonville FC, and later joined the US Development Academy in 2017. In 2021, Dominic made his debut for the Eagles, starting in all 11 games and recording a shutout in his first collegiate action. He was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week in September 2020, and ended the season with 36 saves and an overall save percentage of 0.75. In seven games in his sophomore season, he made 26 saves. He has also played for the Armada U-23 team for the past two years. Since joining the team in 2019, he has started 14 games, conceded only 17 goals, and has a goals against average of 1.2. He has won 13 of his 14 starts, and has three shutouts to his name.

 

Cameron Braswell - Cameron Braswell is a six foot 21 year old goalkeeper who was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, and attended Fletcher High School. After graduating from high school, Cameron enrolled at Florida Atlantic University, where he played for the Owls for two seasons before transferring to Georgia Southern University. Cameron has also played for the Armada U-23 team since 2021. As a starting goalkeeper for the team, Braswell has conceded just eight goals in 11 games and recorded six shutouts, with a goals against average of 0.72.

 

Jason Dubrovich - Jason Dubrovich is a 6-foot-2 goalkeeper who hails from Riverdale, New Jersey, and played his college soccer at the University of San Diego. In 2022, Jason was recognized as the WCC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year, All-WCC First Team, and WCC Defensive Player of the Week. During his senior season, Jason recorded 62 saves, a save percentage of 0.74, and goals against average of 1.09. Before joining his current college team, Jason played for Central Connecticut State University in his junior and sophomore years. In his junior season, he started all seven games, maintaining a goals against average of 1.38 and recording 26 saves, including two shutouts. As a sophomore, Jason played in 14 games and made 13 starts, accumulating 79 saves and had a save percentage of 0.67. Jason began his collegiate soccer career at Saint Peter's, where he appeared in 16 games, making 15 starts and accumulating 60 saves. He also had a goals against average of 1.05, a save percentage of 0.77, and recorded four shutouts during his freshman campaign. This will be Dubrovich’s first year with the Armada U-23 team.

 

Brandon Diaz - Brandon Diaz is six foot 19 year old sophomore goalkeeper from Jacksonville, Florida. Before committing to the University of the Cumberlands, Diaz attended Stanton College Preparatory School and played his club soccer for Jacksonville FC. For the Patriots in 2022, Brandon played in one game, and did not concede a goal. This will be Diaz’s second year with the Armada U-23 team, after making two appearances last season.

 

Dylan Frickie - Dylan Frickie is a six foot 20 year old goalkeeper from Fernandina Beach, Florida, where he attended Fernandina Beach High School. Dylan played for the Jacksonville FC MLS U19 Next team. He also competed in the Jacksonville FC Armada U15 and U17 Developmental Academy. In 2018, Dylan had the opportunity to travel to Brazil with the Jacksonville Armada, where he participated in the prestigious Copa Caio Junior Tournament. In 2021 Frickie would commit to Flagler College to continue his career, where he has been for two years. This will be Dylan’s second year being a part of the Armada U-23 squad.

 

Michael Garrihy - Michael Garrihy is a 5-foot-11 21 year old goalkeeper from the town of Lisdoonvarna, Ireland, and attends Tennessee Wesleyan University. In the 21/22 season for TWU Michael played in 20 games, starting in 19 of them. He spent a total of 1810 minutes on the field, only conceding 19 goals and finishing with a 0.94 goals against average. He also had a 0.81 save percentage, and recorded eight clean sheets. In the 22/23 season, Garrihy started in 16 out of the 17 games played, finishing with a goals against average of 1.02, and a save percentage of 0.61. He also has five clean sheets to his name so far. This will be Garrihy’s first year with the U-23’s in the NPSL, although he appeared in the squad for both U.S. Open Cup matches this year. 

 

DEFENDERS

 

Cole Reasonover - Cole Reasonover, born in Jacksonville, Florida, attended Atlantic Coast High School before his collegiate career at Jacksonville University. Reasonover’s first year with the Dolphins came in 2019. In his sophomore year, Cole participated in nine games and started in four. In 2021, Reasonover started in nine of the 12 games he appeared in and tallying two assists and five shots. He continued to excel in 2022 as a redshirt junior, starting in 14 contests. Reasonover has been with the Armada U-23 team since 2021 and has scored a total of two goals during his tenure.

 

Miles Shanley - Miles Shanley, born in St. Augustine Florida, graduated from Saint Augustine High School, where he made a name for himself with seven goals and 12 assists during his sophomore season. He was also named to the St. Augustine All-County first team after one year playing. After committing to Flagler College Miles played and started in 15 matches, in his freshman year. As a sophomore in 2022, Miles started in all 17 games for the Saints, scoring two goals, and logging 1511 minutes on the field. This will be Shanley’s second year playing for the Armada U-23 squad.

 

Richard Thompson - Richard Thompson is a defender from Montego Bay, Jamaica. He attended Jamaica College High School, where he was named to the All-Schools Team in 2018 and 2019 and the All-Manning Cup Team in 2019-20. He also secured the Manning Cup Championship in 2020, and was named the tournament's MVP in 2018. Thompson then committed to Wilmington University, where he was named the CCAC Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-CCAC selection in 2021. He also earned All-CACC Second Team honors that same year. Over the course of two seasons, Thompson appeared in 37 games and made 36 starts, scoring three goals and tallying 15 assists. Thompson also has national team experience with Jamaica on their U15, U17, and U20 teams. Thompson is now committed to play his next year of soccer with the University of South Florida and play his first for the Armada FC U-23 team.

 

Donat Juhasz - Donat Juhasz is a 22 year old junior from Törökbálint, Hungary, who plays as a defender for Georgetown College. During his college career, Juhasz has appeared in a total of 34 games, starting 31 of them, scoring two goals and assisting ten. The 6-foot-5 defender will be making a return to the Armada U-23 team for his second year after making multiple appearances and scoring once in the 2022 NPSL season.

 

Jed Bowman - Jed Bowman is a 23 year old defender from Billericay, England. Jed started his collegiate career at the University of the Southwest, where he played in 15 matches and tallied three assists as a freshman. He also earned all-conference honors, helping the Mustangs win a program-record seven matches in the Red River Athletic Conference. In his sophomore year, he played in 20 matches for Arizona Western, where he earned honorable mention all-region accolades and was named to the all-district second team. He helped lead the Matadors to a conference title, a first-ever district title, and the NJCAA National Tournament. As a junior in 2021 at Flagler College, Jed played in 14 matches with 11 starts, scoring one goal and logged 1065 minutes. In his senior year in 2022 with the Saints, he appeared in 16 games, making 14 starts, and scored two goals while tallying an assist. Bowman will be returning to the Armada U-23 team for his third year.

 

Giovanny Abreu - Giovanny Abreu is a defender from Jacksonville, Florida. At Oakleaf High School Giovanny tallied 26 goals and 32 assists in his four-year career at Oakleaf. Before joining the University of North Florida, Giovanny played 34 total games for Daytona State and recorded one assist, earning a spot on the Region 8 Second Team after starting 18 matches for Daytona State in 2018. In his junior year Giovanny appeared in all 16 games, logging 846 minutes. In the Spring 2021 season, Giovanny appeared in nine games with eight starts, playing in the backline, and helping the Ospreys to four shutouts. As a graduate student in the Fall 2021 season, Giovanny played in 12 games, acquiring two assists, and earned the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week award in October 2021. Abreu has yet to play for the Armada U-23 team in the NPSL, but started in the team’s two 2023 U.S. Open Cup matches.

 

Alex Smith - Alex Smith attended Sandalwood HS in Jacksonville and played club ball for Jacksonville Armada FC. He was part of the US Development Academy Team (USSDA) from 2014-19, and his 2016/16 U16 Elite club team achieved many accolades, including FPL Champions, NPL Champions, FL State Cup Semi-Finalists, and finishing second in Region III. Alex was also a US Soccer Training Center Invitee/Participant in 2014, 2015 & 2016. In his freshman year, Alex played in one match, and in his sophomore year, he started all three matches he played in before being sidelined with an injury. As a sophomore in 2022, Alex started all 13 matches he appeared in and scored two goals. He was also one of only five Eagles to play over 1000 minutes. Smith will be making his return to Jacksonville for his second year in the U-23 team.

 

Wade Stinson - Wade Stinson is a defender hailing from Webster, Connecticut, who stands at a height of 6-foot-2. Stinson attended Acellus Academy, and then went on to play for Oakwood Soccer Club in Glastonbury, Connecticut. In 2022, Wade committed to play soccer at Northern Kentucky, earning 10 starts and tallying 714 minutes in his debut season in 2023. This will be Stinson’s first year in Jacksonville with the Armada U-23 squad.

 

Savio Palushi - Savio Palushi is a 20 year old defender from Jacksonville, Florida, who played his high school soccer at Nease. During his time at Nease Palushi would play in 52 games, score 40 goals, and tally 10 assists. Last year Palushi played in USL League 2 with Florida Elite Soccer Academy, playing in 7 games. This will be Savio’s first year with the Armada U-23 team, although he did appear in both 2023 U.S. Open Cup matches for the Armada.

 

Nick Herb - Nick Herb is a 19 year old defender from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, who attended Ponte Vedra High School. Nick competed for Jacksonville FC, including captaining the JFC U-19 team. After graduating, Herb would commit to play college soccer at High Point University. At HPU during his freshman season, Nick made a total of 8 appearances for the Panthers and tallied 217 minutes played. Herb will be joining the Armada U-23 team for a second year.

 

Isaac Machado - Isaac Machado is a 24 year old defender born in Destin, Florida, who attended Fort Walton Beach High School. In 2020 Machado committed to play soccer for the University of Northwestern Ohio. Over a two year span at UNO, Isaac played in 15 matches, scoring once. Machado then transferred to his current school, Oral Roberts University, in 2022. Isaac has also previously appeared for NPSL Gulf Coast Conference rivals Pensacola FC, and trained with the Armada U-23 squad last summer.

 

Joseph Spencer - Joseph Spencer is a 6-foot-3 18 year old defender from The Wirral, England. Spencer attended high school at the Caldey Grange Grammar School before committing to play college soccer in the United States at Seton Hill University. In his freshman year with the Griffins, Spencer appeared in 16 matches and started in 15. He accumulated two goals, an assist, and logged 1378 minutes in 2022. This will be Joseph’s first time in Jacksonville suiting up with the boys in blue.

 

Mikah Thomas - Mikah Thomas is a 6-foot-2 18 year old defender from Jacksonville, Florida, who attended both Nease and Ponte Vedra High School. Thomas played his club soccer at Jacksonville FC and Jacksonville Armada FC Youth Academy, and appeared for the Armada U-23 team numerous times last season. Mikah will be returning for his second year, after scoring in our 2023 U.S. Open Cup win against Miami United.

 

Colain Jean - Colain Jean is a 25 year old defender from Homestead, Florida,, and attended the South Dade Skills Center for high school. He would commit to Daytona State to play college soccer. Over a two year period, Jean played in 29 games, scored three goals, and assisted six times. Colain then transferred to the University of North Florida for the 2021 season, where he appeared seven times for the Ospreys. Jean is no stranger to Jacksonville, as he has played previously with Jacksonville FC’s UPSL team, and in the Armada U-23 2023 U.S. Open Cup run.

 

Gavin Penzone - Gavin Penzone is a 6-foot-1 18 year old defender from Jacksonville, Florida, who attended Ponte Vedra High School. This year, Penzone committed to play college soccer at Holy Cross University. Gavin has been brought up through the Jacksonville FC academy, and currently plays for JFC’s U-19 MLS Next team under Head Coach Tommy Krizanovic. This will be Penzone’s second year in the NPSL with the Armada U-23 team, after appearing in both 2023 U.S. Open Cup matches.

 

Noah Daniels - Noah Daniels is a six foot 18 year old defender from Jacksonville, Florida, who attended Fleming Island High School. This year, Daniels committed to play soccer at the College of Charleston. Noah has been brought through the Jacksonville FC academy, and currently plays for JFC’s U-19 MLS Next team under Head Coach Tommy Krizanovic. This will be Daniels’ second year in the NPSL with the Armada U-23 team, after appearing in our second 2023 U.S. Open Cup match.

 

Ayrton Redmore - Ayrton Redmore is a 6-foot-3 24 year old defender from Melbourne, Australia, and last played college soccer for Purdue Fort Wayne. During the Fall 2021 season, Redmore played 15 matches, scored a goal, and totaled a playing time of 1348 minutes. Before joining the Mastodons, Redmore appeared for LSU Shreveport, where he played for two seasons and participated in 37 matches, starting in 33 of them. Prior to his time at LSU Shreveport, Redmore played for the Tusculum Pioneers in the NCAA Division II. During his tenure at Tusculum, Redmore competed in a total of 13 games, helping the team secure a league title, and progress to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Although Redmore started in the Armada’s two 2023 U.S. Open Cup matches, this will be his first season with the NPSL side.
