Eight Midfielders Join Armada FC U-23

Eight midfielders are announced to the Jacksonville Armada FC roster ahead of the 2021 season.

"We have a deep and talented group of midfielders who are comfortable on the ball and can execute offensive and defensive responsibilities," said head coach Tommy Krizanovic.

Ethan Dudley returns to the U-23 team after playing for the squad in 2019. He is a junior at Florida Gulf Coast University who started all 10 matches in 2021 and notched two goals, with 18 shots. He has appeared 35 times total for the Eagles and was named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team.

Nicholas Ladeira is a senior at Golden-Beacon College. He has played 50 games over three seasons with the Lightning, recording 11 goals and four assists total. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, he appeared for the U17 South African National Team.

Owen Guske is a Freshman at University of Central Florida. He is from Jacksonville and also played for the Orlando City SC USSDA, starting all 15 games of his last season there.

Brian Schaefer is a freshman at University of South Florida. This year he made 10 appearances with two goals and seven shots. He went to Fletcher High School, where he was voted most valuable player and named First Team All-City by the Florida Times Union in addition to the All-First Coast team.

Josh Moreira is a freshman at Jacksonville University from Toronto, Canada. He started 9 of the 8 games he played this year, with one goal and three shots. Growing up, he played seven years in the Toronto FC Academy of the MLS. He also represented the Canadian National Team at the U15, U16 and U17 levels and had a training stint with English Premier League Academy West Ham United in 2016.

Maxwell Debodene is a freshman at University of Connecticut. He started five of his seven games this year, putting up four shots with two on goal. Before UConn, he played in the USSDA for D.C. United. He scored the region’s highest 24 goals in the 2016-2017 season.

Pierce Amalberti joins the team from Jacksonville FC. He has five years of experience in the USSDA with 28 goals and played in the inaugural MLS NEXT league with Jacksonville FC.

Luto Tom arrives in Jacksonville for the summer from East Tennessee State University where he played his junior season. He started six of the 10 games he played, taking 10 shots, three on goal. Before Tennessee, he was at Iowa Lakes CC where he was a member of the 2019 First Team All-Tournament.

Cao Chaves is a freshman at Jacksonville University. He started 9 of the 12 matches he played this season, scoring one goal and making six assists—five of which came in the ASUN Championship games. He is originally from Ribeirao Preto, Brazil and went to Saint Benedict’s Prep High School where he helped his school win three consecutive national championships.

Additional U-23 announcements will follow in the coming days. The team kicks off the NPSL season on May 1, on the road against Tallahassee SC.
