With the first match in the Robert Palmer era under its belt, the Jacksonville Armada FC (0W-1D-0L, 1 pt, 3rd NASL Fall) travels to the Caribbean to face a difficult Puerto Rico FC (0W-1D-0L, 1pt, 5th NASL Fall).

The Fall Season kicked off for the Armada FC in Jacksonville on Sunday. The season looked to be off to a thrilling start when Jack Blake converted on a penalty kick in the 35th minute to give the Armada FC the early lead against the San Francisco Deltas. The opportunity came after forward Derek Gebhard was fouled in the box at the end of a run. With the tally, Blake now has three goals in 2017 for Jacksonville.

After controlling play to start the second half, the Armada FC began to struggle as the Deltas started to control possession. In the 58th minute, Jackson split the defense with a through ball and found forward Danny Cruz. Cruz put the ball past Caleb Patterson-Sewell to bring the match to a deadlock. The two clubs would go back-and-forth for the remaining 30 minutes until the final whistle blew and each side split points.

Puerto Rico FC wasted little time finding the back of the net Saturday on the road against North Carolina FC. In just the 12th minute, after a North Carolina turnover, Jordi Quintillà hit a strike that beat goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre. Determined to find the equalizer, North Carolina picked up the pace and controlled most of the match. However, it wasn’t until the 91st minute when Matt Fondy finally broke through and tied the match.

Despite being near the bottom of the table for most of the Spring Season, Puerto Rico FC has proven to be a tough opponent for the Jacksonville Armada FC. In only two meetings this year, the clubs have settled for draws and there have only been two goals scored.

Tune in to WJXT or listen on the radio to Planet FM 97.3 and Rumba FM 106.9 in Jacksonville to follow the action on Saturday. Kickoff for the first battle between these two clubs this season is at 7:30 p.m. EST.
