The Jacksonville Armada FC returns to the Great White North for the first time since April on Friday. The team is preparing for a battle with FC Edmonton that will kick off at 9 p.m. ET.
With the last month of the NASL Fall Season officially underway, the Armada FC is anxiously looking to grab some points to get back into playoff contention. The team sits just two points behind the New York Cosmos – the team that occupies the final place in the standings that will lead to a postseason berth.
Both teams are coming off of 1-0 losses on Sunday. Jacksonville was defeated by Miami in South Florida and FC Edmonton was defeated on their home turf by the San Francisco Deltas.
Friday’s odds seem to be on Jacksonville’s side luckily though. Despite facing tough matchups of recent with other clubs, the previous three meetings with FC Edmonton all led to 1-0 wins by the Armada FC. This is the best record for Jacksonville against any other club this season, gathering six points total in the matches.
The most recent meeting took place in Jacksonville on July 1. Although neither side was able to get ahead in the first half, a free kick changed it all in the 79th minute. Mechack Jerome took the free kick, which found the head of Kalen Ryden in front of the goal. He sent it toward Derek Gebhard who was able to tuck it away for the victory.
