Three Jacksonville Players Placed on Final NASL Team of the Week

The final weekend of the Fall Season came to its conclusion with an exhilarating finish. Although the Jacksonville Armada FC did not clinch a playoff berth, the team finished strong with a 2-0 shutout against the second-place San Francisco Deltas. Three players stood out in the win and joined other players across the NASL in the Team of the Week.

The final Team of the Week in 2017 is below: 

GK: Caleb Patterson-Sewell (Jacksonville Armada FC) – The shot-stopper picked up a clean sheet in Jacksonville’s 2-0 win over the San Francisco Deltas.

DEF: Drew Beckie (Jacksonville Armada FC) – He helped keep a clean sheet in Jacksonville’s win, making nine interceptions as well as wining six duels.

DEF: Rhett Bernstein (Miami FC) – The center back won six duels and made five clearances as well as two interceptions in his club’s shutout win over FC Edmonton, 2-0. He also helped maintain possession, completing 80 of his 83 passing attempts.

DEF: Colin Falvey (Indy Eleven) – He won all three of his tackle attempts and won 10 duels. He also made six clearances and four interceptions in Indy’s 2-2 draw with North Carolina FC.

DEF: Carlos Mendes (New York Cosmos) – During his final regular-season game, the veteran defender scored a goal in New York’s 5-2 win over Puerto Rico. He also won both of his tackle attempts and made three clearances.

MID: J.C. Banks (Jacksonville Armada FC) – The midfielder scored the club’s first goal en route to a win over the Deltas.

MID: Kwadwo Poku (Miami FC) – The Ghanaian international scored both of Miami’s goals in the win over FC Edmonton, which helped the club claim the Fall Season title.

MID: Emmanuel Ledesma (New York Cosmos) – He stepped up when his club needed it most, scoring three times in the second half as well as adding an assist to help the Cosmos qualify for the postseason. He was also named the Player of the Week.

MID: Andrés Flores (New York Cosmos) – The Salvadoran international had a pair of assists in New York’s recent win.

FWD: Emery Welshman (Puerto Rico FC) – Th forward had an assist in Puerto Rico’s 2-0 win over FC Edmonton on Wednesday and followed that up a two-goal performance in his club’s 5-2 loss to Cosmos.

FWD; Billy Schuler (North Carolina FC) – The forward scored for North Carolina FC and was eventually credited for an assist on the game-tying goal after the ball ended up deflecting off of Connor Tobin.
