JACKSONVILLE ARMADA FC U-23 SECURE VICTORY OVER PENSACOLA FC

PENSACOLA, FL - Saturday night witnessed an exhilarating encounter as the Jacksonville Armada FC U-23 made the journey across the Florida Panhandle to face off against in-state rivals, Pensacola FC. This highly anticipated match marked the second meeting between the two clubs in the 2023 National Premier Soccer League season.

 

Right from the opening whistle, Pensacola FC displayed their attacking prowess, maintaining possession and putting pressure on the Armada. However, it was in the 25th minute of the first half when the Armada found their breakthrough. Eduardo Coimbra seized an opportunity arising from a defensive error by a Pensacola player, delivering a precise pass to Saulo Da Silva, who made a brilliant run into the box and slotted the ball into the back of the net, giving the Jacksonville Armada a well-deserved 1-0 lead.

 

Continuing their relentless attack, the Armada extended their advantage in the 28th minute with a second goal courtesy of Saulo Da Silva. Eduardo Coimbra once again showcased his playmaking abilities by finding Da Silva on the edge of the area, allowing him to finish the chance and secure a brace on his debut appearance for the Jacksonville Armada FC U-23. With a two-goal lead over the Pelicans, the Armada headed into halftime with confidence.

 

As the second half commenced, Jacksonville maintained their pressure on the Pensacola FC backline in an effort to further extend their lead. Assistant Coach Matthew Iles wisely utilized all five substitutes throughout the second half, ensuring fresh legs on the pitch. After five minutes of injury time were played, the Jacksonville Armada FC U-23 celebrated a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Pensacola FC.

 

Stepping into the role of Head Coach for the night, Matthew Iles expressed his utmost satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "We achieved a great result against a well-organized Pensacola side. Our strong start allowed us to score two early goals in the first half. Although the second half was more closely contested, we defended resolutely and accomplished our objective of securing three points on the road!"

 

The Jacksonville Armada FC U-23 will now return home for the final fixture of the regular season as they go head-to-head against the New Orleans Jesters in the race for the Gulf Coast Conference Shield.
